WORKSHOP:
SEATED GIRL

In this exercise nine year olds were asked to draw a sitting subject, paying particular attention to the shapes made by the position of the subject in relation to both itself, the chair, and sheets of paper scatterd on the floor. Observation and accurate recording of shape and proportion are essential. The children were then asked to shift position and repeat the exercise on the same sheet so that it becomes apparent how the shapes change. These works are only studies but do show good draughtsmanship and grasp of what was being asked. A valuable drawing lesson.
