WORKSHOP:
BRUSH-MAKING

This exercise involved year one children collecting materials that would make wide-ranging and useful markmaking tools. The materials were clumped together and attached to sticks to serve as paint brushes. The materials were chosen and used appropriately resulting in some imaginative and technically progressed work.
Cheryl made a particularly rich range of marks with her brushes.
"I made a brush using grass for the leaves of the tree"
"A painting of a mountain landscape in which the tree's got a reflection in a pond. The tree trunk and mountains & pond were done by using a stick and the leaves were done using a sponge"
"A bunny on the hills. Brushmaking. Sticks, string, sponge and materials"
"I ripped this up because I didn't like it but I do now so I stuck it together. A man cooking dinner in front of his house. There is a tree behind. Sponge and leaves"
