"Songs III " Oil on canvas.
Third in the "Songs" series - this painting is largely dominated by the strangely translucent cadmium red deep hue, which oscillates between the thinly applied areas, shining over a cadmium yellow base, and the heavily applied lines. The tone is notched down with permanent rose. Corners provide a tonal lift with subtle combinations of flesh with naples yellow red, and buff titanium with flesh ochre. A base of chrome orange deep hue bounces throughout, binding the whole with an uplifting undertone.
I am very pleased with the unity and strength of this particular run of works. See them all together.
