"Lift"

Underlying this painting, and barely felt, but of enormous importance is a base layer of Paul Veronese green. It cools the grey which sits well with the dark toned violet. Tone is lifted by the fleshy lines with their unusually hooked, dotted and swirly ends.
I drew inspiration for this painting from a violet ribbon my daughter had dropped on our slate path.
