This pair, in the application of alizarin crimson, enjoys a freer use of brushmark than the previous "Skies" and "Fields", which marks a progression in the work as a whole - a rekindling of fluency seen in one or two past pieces. These are a strong pair of paintings, and I am pleased with this return.
