In this painting a normally fierce cobalt violet light has lifted the tone of, and been subdued by, it's association with the dark cobalt violet base. Absolutely gorgeous lines of Ultramarine blue are a delightful introduction to this pairing. Really successful colour combination from a painterly perspective, but also powerfully evocative. An unmistakably emotive piece.
