The magenta lines needed quite a number of strikes before there was enough area to be heard, but these deep reddy purple lines are the perfect partner to both the violet base colour and the translucent but powerful brushed red. An ambitious but successful combination. The red lets the underlying violet known – I love it for that. A strong painting.
The work seems to have taken on a new simplicity – less fussy, less number of colours. I really like this new phase – think it allows for power and focus on effect.
