"Band II bright yellow green".
Oil on canvas.
Painting in it's purest - the shapes of old have been dispensed with, giving room and space for the colours to be seen and heard.
The apparently vivid and lush green is actually stretched so thin in places the underlying layers shine through, then in others it is brushed thickly helping to bounce the interest. Close-up it is splattered by the application of subsequent yellows and browns. The heavy weight of the dark lines thickly applied above contrasts and balances the work. An orange peeps through above. A mature and confident piece.
A fabulous painting of which I am inordinately proud. I am very pleased to have arrived at this point in the work.
