"Balance I turquoise base".
Oil on canvas.

Working onwards from the previous works (and most particularly upon the compositional success of Band II bright yellow green) this work marks the start of a new series. Two main areas of colour: one brushed both thickly and thinly so the full quality of the colour can be appreciated; the other heavier, darker, more layered. Each balancing the other.

Particularly restrained pallette in this one; blue to green. Turquoise base obviously, with phthalo blue bottom, and top is the beautifully ink-deep phthalo green deep, gently lifted with the cool Paul Veronese emerald green.

Overall unity, and breakup of the ground is provided by the fabulous grey of a broken green earth.

A neatly executed painting with a very particular pallette. A conversation in blues and cool greens. A promising start to this newly focused direction.
